The San Jacinto Valley Heroes Program

                                                              By the Hemet Sunset Rotary

Overview

Rotary knows that in every city across the country there are unsung heroes who make a difference in the lives of those around them. These are community heroes who make a difference in their communities. Community heroes are leaders, teams and families who not only use their individual skills and knowledge to do good work, but also engage the resources and strength of the entire community to make real, positive change.

Community heroes get their neighbors feeling proud of their neighborhoods; get kids excited about the future; get businesses open and services delivered. Community heroes get it done.

In Hemet, we like to celebrate the essential contributions that these individuals can make so that Hemet neighborhoods can be better and safer.

A Community Hero is

  • An individual, family, organization whose volunteer service to others embraces the Hemet sense of community
  • An individual, family, organization who has not received prior public recognition for their volunteer efforts

Criteria

An individual, age 14 or older, a family or organization whose volunteer services directly benefit Hemet citizens and/or Hemet organizations through:

  • Providing services that support education, youth or senior programs, environmental issues, animal interests, religious institutions, neighborhoods, arts and culture, or health and human services
  • Performing outstanding volunteer work
  • Serving as a community role model and mentor
  • Demonstrating random acts of kindness
  • Resident of the City of Hemet

Schedule

The San Jacinto Valley Heroes Program nominations will be  accepted on an ongoing basis with awards given twice a year. Every nomination is given equal consideration; however, there will be  a limit of one nomination per entry. The nominations will be  reviewed and the honorees will be  selected by a review panel.

Do You Know A Hero?

Nomination forms for the 2010 San Jacinto Valley Heroes are due by 5 p.m., June 1, 2010

Selection will be conducted by a panel of community leaders who will evaluate the entries based upon the stated criteria. Only entrants selected as a San Jacinto Valley Hero will be notified.  All selected Community Heroes agree to the use of their names, likeness and any statements made by them for advertising or publicity purposes and any and all rights to said use without compensation.
